Staying connected is important, especially when mobile reception is weak or unavailable. If you use an iPhone with Yomojo, there's an important Wi-Fi Calling update you should know about.
Following a network update from Optus, some iPhone models will need to run the latest available software version to continue using Wi-Fi Calling from 15 December 2026.
Yomojo has sent an email to customers about this change, advising those with affected iPhone models to check their device software and install any available updates before the deadline.
Here's what you need to know and how to update your iPhone.
What is changing with Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive phone calls and text messages over a Wi-Fi connection instead of relying entirely on mobile reception.
It's particularly useful when you're indoors, in areas with poor signal or somewhere mobile coverage is limited.
However, Optus has advised that some iPhones running older software versions may no longer be compatible with Wi-Fi Calling on its network from 15 December 2026.
To continue using the feature, customers with affected devices should install the latest available software update before this date.

What happens if you don't update?
If your affected iPhone is not updated to the latest available compatible software before 15 December 2026, Wi-Fi Calling may stop working on your device.
This means you may no longer be able to:
Make or receive calls and text messages over Wi-Fi.
Make calls to emergency services over Wi-Fi when mobile coverage is unavailable.
It's important to note that calls and messages over the Optus mobile network will continue to work where mobile coverage is available.
Why is Wi-Fi Calling important?
Wi-Fi Calling provides another way to stay connected when mobile reception isn't reliable. It can be particularly helpful in buildings with weak signals, remote areas with limited coverage, and other places where connecting to the mobile network is difficult.
It can also help customers contact emergency services, including Triple Zero (000) and 112, when connected to Wi-Fi and mobile coverage is unavailable.
That's why keeping your device software up to date is important.
