SMS Sender ID Register (Australia)
To help protect customers from scam and impersonation text messages, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is introducing a new SMS Sender ID Register.
What’s new?
From 1 July 2026, Australian telcos will begin checking whether an SMS Sender ID (the name that appears as the sender of a text message) is officially registered by the business or organisation sending it.
What this means for you
Registered Sender IDs
If you receive an SMS from a business or organisation with a registered Sender ID (for example, “Yomojo”), the message will be delivered as usual and appear under that name.
Unregistered Sender IDs
If a Sender ID has not been registered, the message will be labelled “Unverified” before it reaches you.
How this helps protect you
The new “Unverified” label is designed to help you quickly identify messages that may not be from a legitimate source. While not all unverified messages are scammed, you should treat them with caution, especially if they ask for personal details or prompt you to click on links.
This initiative forms part of the Australian Government’s broader efforts to combat scams and reduce fraud across mobile networks.
How Yomojo contacts you
Yomojo may contact you via SMS for important updates, service notifications, and promotional offers.
Our messages may appear as:
Yomojo , or
From the number 0483 906 100
To help you recognise legitimate messages, we recommend saving this number in your phone as “Yomojo”.
